Here in Texas, everyone says that Boudreaux’s Butt Paste is the best. We’re only 6 months pregnant but we’ll be stocking up on butt paste pretty soon.
Crawfish boudain: if that ain’t country, I’ll kiss your ass.
Pork boudain. We also got some smoked boudain and some green onion pork sausage.
Folks around here are serious about their seasonings.

Nick’s Grocery: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
I love Boudreaux’s almost as much as I love boudain. Oh, how I love boudain! A friend who grew up in PA visited NOLA recently. Upon his return, he told me about the great food they ate (I’d emailed him a list of suggested spots) but had seen one thing listed often that he was unfamiliar with and asked “what the heck is bowdin?”. :-)
This boudain is destined for cousins in Houston on our way back from OTX but next time, I’ll buy some extra for you Kay! :) It’s supposed to be the best…
It’s been a long time since I lived in Port Arthur, but Nick’s boudain was always thought to be the best in the area. I really miss boudain. It’s pretty hard to find in Los Angeles, but there’s a butcher at the Farmers Market who carries Zummo boudain from Beaumont. I pick some up when I feel homesick. Sometimes I get some to make myself homesick. Thanks for the post!
Boudreaux’s is magical crack for a babies crack. It’s the Brunello of butt paste. I feel qualified to make these statements because my 8 month old son’s bottom is a pure as a driven snow due, in no small part, to Boudreaux’s.
p.s. try Virginia wine. It doesn’t suck.
Jar, your range never ceases to amaze me. A David Allan Coe quote? You are full of surprises
We had some of the smoked boudain yesterday at our cousins’ house. It was friggin’ delicious!
@Michael the sacred and the profane…
Nick’s Grocery no longer has Big Red’s famous recipe for boudain. Red left it to his family when he passed away 20+ years ago. How do I know this? I’m Red’s granddaughter. His boudain is still the best, but Nick’s doesn’t have it anymore.
Is this true?
