Good food I ate in Italy over the last couple of weeks…

On my way home from a whirlwind research trip to Italy. Barely had time to catch my breath let alone get in a good meal. But here were some of the highlights of what we ate. Wish me luck, wish me speed! I need it. See you on the other side…

Piadina with prosciutto, brie, lettuces, olive oil-cured roasted peppers, and salsa rosa (chez Arcari, Franciacorta).

Tuna tramezzino (Piccolo Bar, Crocetta del Montello).

Pizza with bufalo mozzarella and datterini tomato sauce (iDon, Padua).

Puccia with prosciutto, fontina, lettuces, insalata russa (La Puccia, Lecce).

Cavatelli with mussels (iSensi [Cantele], Guagnano).

Orecchiette with meatballs (iSensi [Cantele], Guagnano).

Baccalà alla Vicentina (Trattoria-Bar AgriDanzi, Peschiera del Garda).

Culatello, prosciutto, and gnocco fritto (Arrogant Pub, Reggio Emilia).

Cappellacci stuffed with mortadella paste (Osteria del Filosso, Correggio).

Chicken liver crostini (Taverna dei Barbi [Fattoria dei Barbi], Montalcino).

Pinzimonio (Locanda di Noris, Peschiera del Garda).

Fritto misto (Locanda di Noris, Peschiera del Garda).

Crab, finely diced tomato, and ripe avocado (Locanda di Noris, Peschiera del Garda).

Bigoli with sea urchin (Locanda di Noris, Peschiera del Garda).

  1. OMG It seems you are really doing your resaerching job from North to South. I wish I could meet you and that tramezzino at the Piccolo Bar, Crocetta del Montello! Not far from Conegliano, my hometown. …but I arrived in Houston, TX a couple of days ago!
