D.I.Y.: Wine Cork Door Mat

My friend Dana sent me this photo of a doormat she made by drilling holes through wine corks and stringing them together using fishing line. The corks were provided in part by Vine Wine, her local wine shop.

“I drilled holes using a 1/32″ bit (think I need something smaller next time),” writes Dana, “and used fishing line to thread them together… arduous task, but satisfying!”

  1. I drilled holes using a 1/32″ bit (think I need something smaller next time) and used fishing line to thread them together…arduous task, but satisfying!

  3. I love the cork door mat. Do you know of anyone who sells these. We are looking for them for a new store at the New Jersey shore that sells recycled, reclaimed, etc. merchandise.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  4. Hey,

Was just thinking of doing this as well. How many corks did you use? And how did you string the varying lines of corks together? IS the mat one huge continuous fishing line?

    Great job!!
